Meet Johnny Brown!
Johnny is another one of the friendly voices you hear when you call 1.800.JunkUSA.
Johnny’s likes include add-ons, being the official call center DJ, and helping out clients however possible. He even watched a customer’s kids for the weekend!
Johnny’s favorite thing about being a call-center hero: “The great feeling you get from helping out someone. Also, being able to accommodate any crazy request people may have. How many other jobs do you hear, ‘Please wait for my husband’s red truck to leave before you show up. It’s a surprise!’”
Get Organized and Ready for the Holidays
The holiday season is right around the corner! Before you know it friends and family will be stopping by. I offered up some tips to The Momnificent! Blog, for organizing your home to make room for your guests.
Here’s a few of the tricks - check out the blog for all of them.
Get the family involved.
Designate jobs for everyone in the family. When they contribute to the goal, they will reap the benefits of enjoying the organization. Make it a fun activity. Crank up the stereo, order some pizza, pass out the trash bags and get to work!
Look into recycling old junk.
Tis’ the season of giving! College Hunks Hauling Junk is a helpful service that can take the unwanted items off your hands. The junk removal company’s clean-cut, collegiate Hunks donate any reusable items to local charities. They also recycle over 60% of all junk removed from homes and businesses.
CJ meets Snoopy!
I was spotted at the NVAR Convention in Northern Virginia this past week. Here I am mingling with Snoopy from MetLife. We hung out and talked about all things mascot; the fuzzy skin, over-sized shoes and how great our job is!
Are you holding or hoarding?
As a Junk Hunk, I’ve seen just about everything that deals with junk. Our Denver franchise recently posted a blog raising an excellent question: Are you holding or hoarding? You can read more on Denver’s blog or continue below.
Everyone holds on to items that they don’t have a use for but hold on to because of sentimental value or the hopes of needing it in the future. While there is no problem with holding onto a few items for later use, it can become a problem when someone begins to hold on to every item that enters their household. Compulsive hoarding is a major problem that people face and, in many cases, may need assistance dealing with. It has been found that compulsive hoarding poses safety as well as psychological risks.
College Hunks Hauling Junk has partnerships with professional organizers, that can help bring order back to an individual’s life. In a hoarding situation, organize and sort their items. College Hunks Hauling Junk can help de-clutter and remove the excess items that have become problematic.

Another dip in the Shark Tank
Did you miss the epside of ABC’s Shark Tank featuring College Hunks Hauling Junk’s founders? Or maybe you just want to watch it over and over again. Well, here’s another chance to catch all the action!
Set your TiVos because the rerun will be this Saturday at 10pm EST. If you can’t wait that long click below. The College Foxes are the final segment…
ABC’s Shark Tank

For those of you that missed ABC’s first episode of The Shark Tank, our founders had an epic performance. While Nick and Omar tried to pitch College Foxes Packing Boxes, the negotiations took a dramatic turn. The investor “sharks” smelled an opportunity and tried to purchase College Hunks Hauling Junk. Nick and Omar stood strong and declined the offer! Check out this picture of them before jumping into the Shark Tank.
A Relic: The Original CHHJ Van

Six years ago a couple of college kids used a beat up cargo van to start College Hunks Hauling Junk. Today these kids are no longer in college (and probably no longer “Hunks” for that matter). However, the van still lives on! It has found a resting place at a junk warehouse in Rockville, MD.
The younger employees don’t seem to respect their elders’ toughness for hauling junk in such a vehicle.
The CJ Tour continues…
As you know, I am the genetically engineered Junk Hunk. My cross country tour has brought me to Raleigh, NC to show everyone I am the supreme junk hauler. Well, I will just let the video speak for itself:

Hunk Heros

Some people look up to Michael Jordan, The Beatles, or Joe DiMaggio but for Nick Friedman - President and co-founder of College Hunks Hauling Junk - his idol is Fred DeLuca. DeLuca is the founder and CEO of Subway.
Nick met DeLuca at this years International Franchise Association Show. Since we are trying to be the Subway of junk removal it was only fitting that they took this picture. Spring Cleaning Tips

Yes, that’s right Spring cleaning is officially here!
First and foremost, the main goal of Spring cleaning is to get rid of the dirt, junk and clutter that has built up over the past year. For example, cleaning mildew in the shower and bath area, hair covered sofas from your couch potato cats and dogs, or greasy cupboards can bring new life to your home.
1) Start with the blinds and then move on to the windows. Blinds can be cleaned simply by spraying them with water and then wiping clean with a cloth or a micro fiber mitt. Then windows can be wiped smudge free with some Windex. Be sure to reuse Sunday’s newspaper instead of paper towels; not only is it better for the environment, but it leaves a smear-free finish.
2) Dust down the ceiling and the corner of the walls. Determine if the walls need to be washed in dirty spots. Be sure to spot wash air vents, doorknobs, doors and switch plates around the house.
3) Now time to kick Fido off the couch (better yet just give him a nudge, no need to kick the dog). Once the animal is off, remove all cushions and pillows and break out the vacuum. Take off the floor cleaner attachment so you use the straight round piece to really dig your way into the crevices of the couch. The brush attachment is best to clean sofas with more of a nappy fabric; while the flat attachment is better for smooth fabrics.
Happy cleaning!
