When we were finishing college, we set out to earn extra money by starting a fairly simple business concept -- picking up and hauling away junk for people in our local area. We both come from entrepreneurial and business backgrounds, through our families and our own studies and experiences. From the very beginning we recognized that customers valued the ‘COLLEGE HUNKS HAULING JUNK’ concept and placed a premium on having trustworthy, friendly and uniformed junk haulers come into their homes or businesses. Our vision soon became clear -- a fleet of shiny COLLEGE HUNKS HAULING JUNK^® trucks in every city across the country, with clean-cut teams doing the junk-removal work.

Award Winning Business Plan and Award Winning Marketing Campaigns

During senior year of college, Omar entered our business plan into the Rothschild Entrepreneurship Competition. Out of nearly 150 entries, our entry won First Prize along with some start-up capital.

After graduating and a brief stint testing our skills in the corporate world, we decided to revisit the prize-winning model. Using it as a starting point, we spent several months raising additional capital, creating a website, logo, and marketing material, and eventually we obtained an all-important toll free number, 1-800-Junk-USA^® . We then streamlined our entire operation, systemizing every aspect of our business and creating manuals for each role in the company so that it could be easily implemented by highly motivated, outgoing individuals with sales, marketing and people management skills.

Neighbors, local businesses and major media outlets soon were spreading the word about our quality services and clever, catchy branding. It wasn’t long before we grew to a multi-truck operation covering the entire Washington, DC metropolitan area.
